The Serie A 2011/12 was the 80th season in the top Italian football -Spielklasse of Lords. Defending champion AC Milan started the season as champions , Atalanta Bergamo , AC Siena and Novara Calcio secured promotion to the top division and replaced the three relegated Sampdoria Genoa , Brescia Calcio and AS Bari . It started on September 9, 2011 after the first two match days were canceled due to a players' strike.

A total of 20 teams took part in the championship, 17 of which played in Serie A last season.
