useful information
- Compared to the 2011/12 season , there has been a change in the rules for substitutes : since the start of the season, in all Italian football competitions , i.e. in Serie A , Coppa Italia and Supercoppa Italiana , there are no longer only seven substitutes on the score sheet, but rather twelve, so that the squad for a game similar to a World Cup or European Championship is increased to a total of 23 players. This step was initiated by officials of the league and the clubs, who see many advantages as a result.
- During the winter break, the Italian international Mario Balotelli moved from Manchester City to the financially troubled AC Milan for around 20 million euros . In the media, the club owner Silvio Berlusconi was accused of getting votes for the parliamentary elections at the end of February at the club's expense.
- During the season there were several racist comments from fans towards dark-skinned players from several clubs. These were fined for the behavior of their fans. The Italian association , coaches and officials as well as FIFA President Sepp Blatter condemn this behavior and call for measures to be taken against racism in Italian football . The AC Milan players , who were even the target of a planned attack by a small group at the end of the season , were attacked particularly frequently .
