The Personnel Manager's Journey is an Israeli film drama from 2010. The road movie is a literary film adaptation of Abraham B. Jehoshua 's novel of the same name שליחותו של הממונה על משאבי אנוש .

action

Life could hardly have been worse for the HR manager at Israel's largest bakery. Not only does his wife leave him, his daughter thinks he is a failure and his employer is dissatisfied with his work. A Romanian guest worker from his company is also killed in a suicide attack. Unfortunately, on the one hand, the lady was still paid, which annoys the employer, and on the other hand, a large newspaper accuses the company of being inhuman with its employers. So the HR manager personally transfers the body to Romania.

criticism

"Conventional, all too predictable road movie with a lot of Balkan folklore, fluctuating between the grotesque and sentimental family reunification."

“Eran Riklis succeeds almost effortlessly in alternating between tragedy and comedy, seriousness and absurdity. [...] The Eastern clichés of abandoned villages with their disaffected inhabitants sometimes seem a bit disturbing, but luckily Eran Riklis doesn't fall too deeply into the folkloric Kusturica trap. [...] So this time Eran Riklis shot a slightly lighter weight, but nevertheless worth seeing film with bizarre and emotional insertions, which fits very well into the cinema autumn. "

"After" The Syrian Bride "and" Lemon Tree ", Eran Riklis tells again about crossing emotional, national, political and personal borders. Based on AB Yehoshua's novel, he designs the transformation of a person who has to deal with unexpected situations and grows with them. The director repeatedly contrasts the tragedy of the road movie , which has been awarded five “ Ophirs ” (the Israeli Oscar), with hilarious scenes, dry humor and an almost unimaginable absurdity. The images of lost people in a wide winter landscape and especially the face of Mark Ivanir frozen in inner sadness, over which a smile glides, are imprinted in the memory. "
