The Italian football championship 1945/46 was the first season of the first Italian football league after the Second World War . However, it is not counted as a correct season of Serie A , as it was more of a transition season for dividing teams into first or second class. Both North (Campionato Alta Italia) and South Italy (Campionato Centro-Sud) played a championship and the best four teams each qualified for the final round. The season as champions ended the AC Turin and was able to defend its title from three years ago.
