Amedeo Amadei (* 26. July 1921 in Frascati , † 24. November 2013 ) was an Italian football player and coach , for a long time for AS Roma and AC Napoli played with the Roma was champion and the Italian national football team at the soccer world championship 1950 participated.
Career
Club career
Amedeo Amadei, born in 1921 in Frascati in central Italy, began his career at AS Roma . From 1936 to 1938 he made six games for the Romans before he moved to the second division Atalanta Bergamo for a year and helped the Lombards to rise to Serie A. For the 1939/40 season Amadei returned to Rome and was seventh in the following season. The following year, Amadei was second in the list of goalscorers behind Ettore Puricelli from AGC Bologna . In 1941/42 he won his only Italian championship under Alfréd Schaffer . As for the goals scored in the first division season, this time behind Aldo Boffi from AC Milan . This Scudetto meant the first championship title for AS Roma, which had only formed about fifteen years earlier from the merger of several Roman clubs. As reigning champions, however, the Roma players did not know how to convince in the 1942/43 season and only the eleventh place in the table was reached. Amedeo Amadei score eleven goals. After the 1942/43 season, game operations in Italy were interrupted due to the Second World War and only resumed in 1945/46. Amedeo Amadei remained loyal to his club even after the break and played in the Roma shirt until 1948, but could not build on the success of the pre-war days with these.
In 1948 he joined AS Ambrosiana, today's Inter Milan . In his first season Amadei was once again the second top scorer in Serie A and he also won the runner-up with his club, only five points behind the then dominant AC Turin . The season 1949/50 ended for Ambrosiana-Inter in third place. After that, Amadei left the club and joined AC Napoli from southern Italy. As a climber, Napoli finished sixth and was able to establish himself in the upper midfield of Serie A in the following years, to which Amedeo Amadei also played his part, who contributed several goals each season. Overall, he played in Naples until 1956 , before ending his active career at the age of 35. Amedeo Amadei later coached AC Napoli twice, from 1956 to 1959 and from 1959 to 1961, with a brief interruption, he was in charge of the Napolis team. Between 1972 and 1978 he was the coach in charge of the Italian women's national team .
National team
Between 1949 and 1953 Amedeo Amadei came to thirteen appearances in the Italian national football team . He made his first international match on March 27, 1953 in Madrid in a 3-1 win over Spain . He immediately scored a goal. He also met again on his second appearance just two months later in Florence against Austria in the context of the European Cup for national soccer teams . Overall, Amedeo Amadei made seven goals for Italy in his thirteen international matches. National coach Ferruccio Novo , he was in the squad for the 1950 FIFA World Cup in Brazil called.
