A first Franciscan monastery was founded in 1477 near the Othmarkapelle, and in 1801 it was dissolved and demolished. After the church was rebuilt in 1879, a new branch was built here to look after the pilgrimage site. From 1968–1998 there were also Poor Clares , and in 2013 the Franciscan branch was also dissolved. Today it serves as a shalom monastery as a meeting place for the order and the diocese. The building itself is laid out next to the church, in the form of a mighty, two-story square .
