The Venezia Football Club is a 1907 established Italian football club from Venice , the currently in Serie B , the second highest Italian league play.

Venezia Foot Ball Club

The club with the English name Venezia Foot Ball Club was founded on December 14, 1907. His club colors were black and green .

Associazione Calcio Venezia (AC Venice)

In 1919 the name was changed to Associazione Calcio Venezia after it was merged . In 1909 the club reached the semi-finals of the Italian championship. In the 1924/25 season, the renamed Venezia Football Club made its debut as AC Venice in the top division. In the 1929/30 season, the club changed its name again in Serenissima and the club colors in Venetian red . After a short time, however, this was reversed.

In the early 1940s the club had its greatest successes. In the 1940/41 season he won the Italian Cup ( Coppa Italia ) and came third in Serie A in 1941/42 .

In 1987 the club merged with the Mestre team and for a short time the name was changed to Venezia-Mestre . After years in Serie C , the club rose back to Serie B in 1990/91 under its previous name AC Venice and made it back to Serie A after 30 years in the 1997/98 season. After relegation in the 2001 / season 02 the club got into trouble and rose again in 2004/05 in the C1 series .

On June 22, 2005, the club declared itself bankrupt .

Società Sportiva Calcio Venezia (SSC Venice)

The club Società Sportiva Calcio Venezia initially started in the C2 series , but immediately rose again to the C1 series . However, he became insolvent in the summer of 2009.

FBC Unione Venice

The Association Foot Ball Club Unione Venezia was founded on 27 July 2009 and started in the fünftklassigen Series D . After the promotion to the fourth-rate Lega Pro Seconda Divisione (formerly Serie C2) was only missed in the promotion playoff final in the 2009/10 and 2010/11 seasons , the FBC Unione Venice won the championship in the 2011/12 season the Girone C of Serie D and thereby secured the return to the fourth highest division and lowest professional league. The major Russian entrepreneur Jury Korablin was the new owner of FBC Unione Venice from 2011 to 2015. The Russian entrepreneur Alex Samochin , who has lived in the Venice area for years , also participates in the takeover of the traditional first division club .

FC Venice

In 2015 FBC Unione Venice went bankrupt again and was re-established as FC Venice . The American entrepreneur Joe Tacopina became the new owner, and Serie D started again in gaming operations. As champions of the D series, the "Lagunari" rose to the third-class Lega Pro, Girone B. After a renewed promotion, the club plays in the second-class league Serie B.
