Giuseppe "Beppe" Iachini (born May 7, 1964 in Ascoli Piceno ) is a former Italian football player and today's coach . He is the head coach of Fiorentina .

Career

As a player

Iachini began his career with his youth club Ascoli Calcio in 1898 . After a brief engagement with Como Calcio , he returned to Ascoli and developed into a regular player. In the following years he played for well-known clubs such as AC Hellas Verona , AC Florence and US Palermo . With Florence was able to celebrate the championship in Serie B in the 1993/94 season . After another year with US Ravenna , he played with AC Venice in 1907 , before ending his playing career with US Alessandria Calcio .

For the U-21s of Italy , Iachini completed three games from 1985 to 1986.

As a trainer

Shortly after the end of his playing career, Iachini began working as a coach . He was briefly head coach of FC Piacenza before coaching AC Venice in 1907 . After two more brief stints at AC Cesena and Vicenza Calcio , he returned to FC Piacenza and this time stayed for three years, Iachini's longest coaching position so far. In 2007 he moved to AC Chievo Verona , with whom he was able to win the second division championship in the 2007/08 season . However , he had to leave Chievo the following season due to unsuccessfulness. This was followed by two short jobs at Brescia Calcio and a station at Sampdoria Genoa .

In 2012, AC Siena signed Iachini as the successor to Serse Cosmi in order to avoid relegation from Serie A. Since this did not succeed, Iachini was again on leave, but found a new position as head coach early on: The US Palermo , who had also been relegated, was looking for a new coach after Gennaro Gattuso's dismissal in September 2013. After a weak start to the season, he was able to confidently lead the Sicilians to the championship of the 2013/14 season and to Serie A. After a mixed start to the season, Iachini was released in November 2015. After various successors, Iachini will be reinstated in February 2016, but will leave the team at the beginning of March.

From May to October 2016 Iachini was Udinese Calcio's trainer .

On November 27, 2017, the US presented Sassuolo Calcio Iachini as the successor to the previously dismissed Cristian Bucchi . Iachini looked after the club until the end of the 2017/18 season . From November 2018, Iachini coached Serie A promoted FC Empoli . He took over the team in 18th place and was replaced by his direct predecessor Aurelio Andreazzoli in March 2019 without any significant improvement in team performance .

Trivia

Giuseppe Iachini was the coach of US Palermo throughout the 2013/14 Serie B season . This makes him - since the presidency of Maurizio Zamparini (in office since 2002) - so far (as of November 2017) the only coach who has worked as a coach in Palermo for an entire season.
