Roberto De Zerbi (born June 6, 1979 in Brescia ) is a former Italian football player and current coach . He played a total of 157 games in Italian Serie B , Serie A and the Romanian League 1 . In 2010 and 2012 he won the Romanian championship with CFR Cluj .
From September to November 2016 Roberto De Zerbi was the coach of the first division club US Palermo . He is currently the trainer of Sassuolo Calcio .
Player career
For AC Milan Roberto De Zerbi not come at the beginning of his career to use and so he played until the 2007/08 season exclusively in the Series B and C (2nd and 3rd Italian league).
From the 2006/07 season Roberto De Zerbi played as a midfielder for SSC Napoli and made promotion to Serie A with the club in his first season . In January 2008 he was loaned to Brescia Calcio in his hometown until the end of the season. De Zerbi played the 2008/09 season on loan with US Avellino in Serie B.
In February 2010 De Zerbi was loaned to the Romanian club CFR Cluj , who signed him firmly in the summer of 2010. There he did not get beyond the role of the supplementary player. In the 2011/12 season he won his second championship title with the team. In the summer of 2012, his contract in Cluj was not renewed. He was without a club for half a year before Trento Calcio brought him to Serie D in 1921 . There he ended his career in the summer of 2013.
Coaching career
After the end of his playing career, De Zerbi became a coach and looked after the Serie D club US Darfo Boario in his first role from 2013 to 2014 , but with whom he was relegated. In the summer of 2014, he took over the team from Foggia Calcio in the Lega Pro, succeeding Pasquale Padalino . In the first year the seventh place of the Girone C was reached, with De Zerbis team with 63 hits made the best offensive in the league.
On September 5, 2016, De Zerbi took over the coaching position at US Palermo as the successor to Davide Ballardini, who was on leave . De Zerbi was released at the end of November, however, as Palermo had slipped to the bottom of the table under his leadership.
After Marco Baroni's dismissal in October 2017, De Zerbi became his successor in the Serie A promoted Benevento Calcio .
In June 2018 he officially succeeded Giuseppe Iachini at the US Sassuolo Calcio and signed a contract until June 30, 2020.
