Pedro Mba Obiang Avomo or Pedro Obiang for short (born March 27, 1992 in Alcalá de Henares ) is a Spanish - Equatorial Guinean soccer player who has been under contract with the Italian club US Sassuolo Calcio since 2019 .

Career

society

Pedro Obiang was born in Alcalá de Henares , about 30 kilometers from Madrid . There he began his career with the clubs CD Avance and AD Naya . Due to his outstanding performance, Atlético Madrid became aware of him and took him on to their youth team. At the age of sixteen he left Atlético Madrid, this was the minimum age to change clubs in Europe . Obiang went to Italy to Sampdoria Genoa , where he still played in the youth team, but also completed the preparation of the professionals for the 2008/09 season. Coach Walter Mazzarri nominated him on January 28, 2009 for the first time for the professional squad against Lazio Rome , but Obiang was not used. Also in the following game against AC Chievo Verona , he did not appear on a mission.

For the 2009/10 season he came to the club's Primavera team. He completed the preparation for the 2010/11 season with two goals from seven games. Since many midfielders such as Stefano Guberti , Fernando Tissone and Paolo Sammarco were injured during the season , he was pulled up to the professional squad by new coach Domenico Di Carlo . He made his Serie A debut in a 3-3 draw with Juventus Turin on September 12 , when he came on for Vladimir Koman in the 58th minute . The morning before the game, he'd just signed a five-year deal with Sampdoria.

Obiang was also part of the 25-man squad for the 2010/11 UEFA Champions League and was nominated for the qualifying game against Werder Bremen , but was later not even a substitute. After failing to qualify, he was only part of the extended squad on September 28 for the 2010/11 UEFA Europa League against Debreceni VSC , until he started his first game in a European competition on December 16 in the second leg against Debreceni VSC and was replaced in the 72nd minute for Stefano Guberti . Sampdoria lost 2-0. At the end of the group stage, Sampdoria was also eliminated from the Europa League. Things didn't go well in the league either. In the end, Sampdoria Genua even got relegated to Serie B.

National team

Obiang played for the U-17 and U-19 national teams of Spain . On February 5, 2013, he made his U-21 debut in a friendly against Belgium .
