Beginnings

Domenico Berardi, who comes from Calabria in southern Italy , began his career at Cosenza Calcio . In 2010 he visited his brother who was studying in Modena . During a soccer game with friends, one of the teammates became aware of his talent and, through an acquaintance, gave him a trial training session at the US Sassuolo Calcio , which immediately signed the 16-year-old.

Professional at Sassuolo Calcio

From 2012 Berardi played in the club's professional squad and was part of the team that became Serie B champions in 2012/13 under Eusebio Di Francesco and thus rose to Serie A for the first time in the club's history . The 18-year-old Berardi played 37 games in which he scored eleven goals.

His good season at Sassuolo made the top Italian clubs aware of Berardi. On September 2, 2013 he was signed by Juventus Turin for nine million euros . However, 50% of the transfer rights for 4.5 million euros for five years were given to Sassuolo; Berardi ends the 2013/14 season on loan at Sassuolo. In return, 50% of the transfer rights to Luca Marrone were given to Sassuolo for two years for 4.5 million euros .

On September 25, 2013 Domenico Berardi made his Serie A debut in the 1-1 draw against SSC Napoli . A little later, on October 6, he scored his first goal in Serie A in the 3-1 defeat against FC Parma with a penalty . On November 3, 2013 Berardi scored three times in the 4-3 away win at Sampdoria Genoa and secured the Emilian club thus the first ever win in Italy's top division. On January 12, 2014 (19th matchday) Berardi scored all four goals in the home game against AC Milan for a 4-3 win. This made the striker, after Silvio Piola, the second youngest player in Serie A, which had been held since 1929 , to score four goals in one game and at the same time the first player to score four goals in a game against AC Milan.

In July 2014, the loan was extended for the 2014/15 season. Berardi played the season similarly, scoring 15 goals in 32 league appearances. For the 2015/16 season , the participation was canceled for 10 million euros in favor of Sassuolo Calcio, as the participation model of the Italian leagues was abolished. That same season, Berardi reached the UEFA Europa League with Sassuolo through the qualifying round, in which he scored five goals . In the Europa League season , the club was later eliminated in the group round.

National team

From 2012 to 2013 Berardi played three games and scored one goal for Italy's U19 national team . From 2014 he was a regular part of the U21 selection .

In October 2015 he was nominated by Antonio Conte for the European Championship qualifiers of the Italian national team against Azerbaijan and Norway , but remained without a mission. He made his senior national team debut on May 31, 2017 in an 8-0 win in a friendly against San Marino .
