Paulo Alexandre Rodrigues Fonseca (born March 5, 1973 in Nampula , Mozambique ) is a former Portuguese football player . He works as a football coach at AS Roma .

Paulo Fonseca grew up near Lisbon and began his football career at FC Barreirense (1991-1995). Other stations as a player were Leça, Belenenses, Marítimo, Vitoria Guimarães and most recently with CF Estrela Amadora (2000-2005).

He came to FC Paços de Ferreira as a coach in the Portuguese League's 2012/2013 season through various positions . With the team he reached third place in the championship. He was the coach of FC Porto from June 10, 2013 to March 5, 2014 .
