Lorenzo Pellegrini (born June 19, 1996 in Rome ) is an Italian football player . The midfielder is currently under contract with AS Roma .

Career

In the club

Pellegrini comes from the youth department of AS Roma and was active in this until 2015. He had first contact with the professional team in the second half of the 2013/14 season and was a one-off substitute in the squad. In the following season he was regularly in the squad from the second half of the season and completed his first Serie A game on March 22, 2015 in a 1-0 win over AC Cesena , which is also his only game for AS Roma.

In July 2015 he moved to the US Sassuolo Calcio , where he signed a contract until 2020. With Sassuolo, Pellegrini reached sixth place in the 2015/16 season and thus qualified for the Europa League , in which Sassuolo played in 2016/17 , but did not get beyond the group stage.

In summer 2017 he returned to AS Roma.

In the national team

Pellegrini played for the U-19 and U-20 national teams of Italy , and is currently part of the U-21 selection .

On May 25, 2017, Pellegrini was nominated by national coach Gian Piero Ventura for Italy's friendly against San Marino on May 31. In this Pellegrini was substituted on at half time and made his debut in the Squadra Azzurra .
