Federico Julián Fazio (born March 17, 1987 in Buenos Aires ) is an Argentine football player who also has Italian citizenship .

Career

society

Fazio made his debut in 2005 for Ferro Carril Oeste in the Argentine Primera B Nacional . In January 2007 he moved to Sevilla FC . In the second half of the 2006/07 season he was there only for the second team used, with which he rose to the Segunda División . On August 25, 2007 at the game against Getafe CF he was first used in the Primera División . On May 7, 2008, he scored his first goal for Sevilla FC in the league game against Racing Santander . In the 2007/08 and 2009/10 seasons he reached the eighth finals of the Champions League with Sevilla FC, in which they were eliminated against Fenerbahçe Istanbul and CSKA Moscow . In 2010 he won the Copa del Rey with Sevilla FC and the UEFA Europa League in 2014 .

On August 27, 2014, Fazio moved to the Premier League at Tottenham Hotspur . He signed a four-year contract until June 30, 2018. In February 2016, Fazio returned to Seville on loan.

National team

Fazio won the world championship title at the U-20 World Cup in 2007 and was Olympic champion at the 2008 Olympic football tournament . On June 1, 2011, he made his first appearance for the Argentina national football team when he was on the starting line-up for the friendly against Nigeria .

Fazio is in the current squad of the Argentina national team for the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
