Jordan Marcel Gilbert Veretout (born March 1, 1993 in Ancenis ) is a French football player . The midfielder comes from the youth academy of FC Nantes , was a regular in the first team from the 2011/12 season and moved to the English Premier League at Aston Villa for the 2015/16 season . He is currently under contract with the Italian first division club Fiorentina .

He had previously won the U-20 World Cup in 2013 with the French youth team .

Athletic career

Veretout was trained in the youth club of FC Nantes from 2003 and in May 2011 the young midfielder made his debut against CS Sedan . This was followed by the first starting eleven in the 1-0 extra win in the first league cup round of the 2011/12 season against Stade Reims . From then on he was a regular in the team, which was initially second class, but then rose to Ligue 1 in 2013 . In total, he completed 140 league games for the "Canaries" by the end of the 2014/15 season, in which he scored 14 goals (exactly half of them in his last year). At the same time, he went through several French youth national teams and in 2013 he won the World Cup in Turkey with the U-20s . There he formed the control center in midfield with Paul Pogba, among others . In the summer of 2015, Veretout moved to the English Premier League for an unspecified transfer fee to Aston Villa, where he was the fourth signing of the "Villans" from French Ligue 1 after Jordan Amavi , Idrissa Gueye and Jordan Ayew .

In the summer of 2017, Veretout moved to Italy , to AC Florence . In 2019 he was awarded to AS Roma .
