Idrissa Gana Gueye (born September 26, 1989 in Dakar ) is a Senegalese football player . The midfielder won the French championship and cup double with Lille OSC in 2011 , took part in the African championship in 2015 and moved to the English Premier League at Aston Villa in the 2015/16 season . He has been under contract with Paris Saint-Germain since the end of July 2019 .

Athletic career

Gueye first played in his home country in the top division for Diambars before he went to France in 2008 to play for the Lille OSC. In the first two years he was only active there for the second team, before he made his sporting breakthrough in Ligue 1 in the 2010/11 season . This year, the young midfielder, who can be used defensively as a "six" and a little more offensively as "eight" between the two penalty areas, won the double from the French championship and the cup . He also promoted the focus of the Senegalese senior team and was then in the squad for the 2012 Olympics in London . His style of play has often been compared to Ramires from Chelsea . After three more years as a regular at Lille OSC and participating in the 2015 African Championship , in which he played all three games, he was hired for the 2015/16 season in the English Premier League for an unspecified transfer fee at Aston Villa. At the end of July 2016 it was announced that the league rival Everton FC was ready to pay the transfer fee of around EUR 8.5 million set out in an exit clause , the change was made in August 2016.

For the 2019/20 season , Gueye returned to Ligue 1 and moved to reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain with a transfer fee of 30 million euros , with whom he signed a contract that ran until June 30, 2023.
