Ander signed his first professional contract on July 7th, 2009. It was valid for four seasons. Even then, Athletic Bilbao tried to poach him. This was prevented by Anders' attachment to Zaragoza and their great promises. On August 29, 2009 Ander made his official debut against Tenerife in the Primera División. Zaragoza won the game 1-0 with a goal from Javier Arizmendi after a template Herrera. He scored his first goal in the Primera División on December 6, 2009 against RCD Mallorca , but Zaragoza lost this game 4-1.
