Ángel Javier Arizmendi de Lucas (born March 3, 1984 in Madrid ) is a former Spanish football player .
Career
Arizmendi comes from the youth of Atlético Madrid , for whom he played his first league game on February 15, 2004. The following year he was loaned to Racing Santander . The first half of the 2005/06 season spent Arizmendi back at Atlético, from the beginning of 2006 to summer 2007 he played for Deportivo La Coruña . Shortly thereafter, he decided to move to Valencia CF to increase his chances of international matches and appearances in the national team. At Valencia, however, David Villa and the up-and-coming young star Juan Mata overtook him and despite regular match practice he only scored one goal in 30 games. As a result, he joined the second division Real Saragossa for the 2008/09 season , which he helped this season with 9 goals in 38 games to promotion to the Primera División. After another season with Zaragoza, Arizmendi moved to Getafe FC in summer 2010 .
On August 4, 2011 it was announced that he would be moving to Neuchâtel Xamax in Switzerland for a year on loan . On January 4, 2012, one day before leaving for the training camp, Arizmendi and his three teammates Haris Seferović , Vincent Bikana and Stéphane Besle were released without notice. The termination was justified with a lack of athletic performance, with a connection with discussions about outstanding wage payments is suspected.
After another year at Getafe FC , he joined RCD Mallorca in the summer of 2012 . For the 2013/14 season, the Spaniard returned to Deportivo La Coruña for one season, where he subsequently ended his active career.
Arizmendi has made an international appearance for the Spanish national team . In a friendly against England in 2007, he was substituted on in the 65th minute.
After finishing his active career, Arizmendi worked for various public companies in the field of stock advice and asset management. During his career and afterwards, he attended various courses in finance in Germany and abroad.
