Ángel Fabián Di María Hernández (born February 14, 1988 in Rosario ) is an Argentine football player . He plays in the storm as a right winger or winger both in the Argentine national team and since 2015 at Paris Saint-Germain in the French Ligue 1 .

Rosario Central and Benfica Lisbon

Ángel Di María played from 2001 to 2005 in the youth team of the local club Rosario Central . From 2005 he played in the first team, for which he scored four goals in 35 appearances. Many large clubs, such as Boca Juniors or Arsenal FC , were associated with him. He finally signed a five-year contract with Benfica Lisbon in July 2007 .

After three seasons in Portugal, Di María moved to Real Madrid in June 2010. He signed a five-year contract for 25 million euros. After the first half of the 2010/11 season he was voted best newcomer by Marca . On April 20, 2011, he won the final of the 2010/11 Copa del Rey with Real Madrid against FC Barcelona , where he had a share in the success with his cross to the winning goal of Cristiano Ronaldo . In 53 competitive games Di María came in his first season at Real on nine goals and twenty assists.

In the first half of the 2011/12 season , Di María developed into the team's leading creative player and was distinguished by numerous goals and assists. At the end of the first half of the season, however, he injured his thigh and was out for two months. Another muscle injury shortly after his comeback set him back again. At the end of the season, which Real Madrid finished as champions, Di María had 15 assists and five goals in 23 league games. Despite his few appearances, he was the third best preparer in the league.

In the following years, Di María won the Supercopa de España with Real Madrid , the Spanish Cup once again and the 2013/14 UEFA Champions League . After the final he was voted “Player of the Match”.

Manchester United

On August 26, 2014, Di María moved to Manchester United . He signed a five-year contract until June 30, 2019 and cost 59.7 million pounds sterling (at that time approx. 75 million euros) transfer, which made him the most expensive transfer in the Premier League to date and one of the most expensive in the world . Under coach Louis van Gaal , he came to 27 league appearances, in which he scored three goals and prepared ten.

Paris Saint-Germain

After a year in England, Di María moved to Paris Saint-Germain in France on August 6, 2015 . There he signed a four-year contract. He played his first league game on August 30, 2015. In his debut season he won the championship, trophy, league cup and the Super Cup. He contributed 18 assists to the championship.

His contract in Paris runs until 2021.

In 2007, Ángel Di María was appointed to the Argentine U-20 national team, for which he played two tournaments: the South American U-20 championship in 2007 in Paraguay and the 2007 junior soccer world championship in Canada . The latter won the Argentine junior selection, and Di María scored three goals in that tournament.

He was also a player in the victorious Argentine selection at the 2008 Olympic football tournament in China , where he scored the decisive goal in the final against Nigeria. Di María, who had twelve appearances in the qualifying matches for the 2014 World Cup , took part in the tournament in Brazil , where his national team was runner-up. He scored one of his most important goals in the round of 16 against Switzerland in the 118th minute . During the quarter-finals against Belgium he suffered a muscle tear, so that he was absent from the semifinals and the final. Despite his injury, Di María wanted to play in the final, also given the fact that on the day of the final he received a letter from his club Real Madrid asking him not to participate in the final. He was not used by coach Alejandro Sabella . FIFA put Di María on a list of nominees for the best player of the tournament.

Ángel Di María was part of the national team of Argentina for the 2018 World Cup in Russia and played in two of the three group matches. In the round of 16 against France, he scored an interim 1: 1 equalizer before losing the game 3: 4. Di María was then no longer in the squad. He was called up again in 2019 for the friendlies in March against Venezuela and Morocco, although he was unable to play in either of them due to a thigh injury.

In July 2011, he married his long-time friend Jorgelina Cardoso in Argentina. On April 23, 2013, he became the father of a daughter.
