Primeira Liga 2008/09

The Primeira Liga 2009/10 (officially Liga Sagres) was the 76th season of the top Portuguese division in men's football. It began on August 16, 2009 and ended on May 9, 2010 with the 30th and final matchday. New to the team were SC Olhanense and União Leiria , who were able to celebrate their immediate promotion. Reigning champions were FC Porto , who could win the championship for the fifth time in a row.

CF Estrela Amadora was banned from participating in professional football due to financial problems. Amadora had to relegate to the II Divisão (the third highest division). Belenenses Lisbon was therefore able to keep the class, despite sporting relegation.
