Pepsideild 2009

The Pepsideild 2010 was the 99th season of the highest Icelandic football league and the second season under the name Pepsideild . The season started on May 10, 2010 and ended on September 25, 2010.

mode

The league's twelve teams played against each other in a simple round-trip round, so that each team played 22 games. The last two placed had to be relegated.

Season course

Breiðablik Kópavogur became Icelandic champion for the first time.
At the beginning of the season, no team was able to break away from the competition. There were four different league leaders within the first eight game days. It was curious that after the eighth match day the first six teams were only separated by one point. But then Kópavogur and ÍB Vestmannaeyja made an intermediate spurt and together separated by seven points by the twelfth match day. As a result, the standings changed four times between these two teams. Due to a small phase of weakness of the two teams, last year's champions FH Hafnarfjörður came up again after the 16th matchday and even overtook Vestmannaeyja's team on the last matchday. With a goalless draw on the last day of the match, Kópavogur secured the Icelandic championship due to the better goal difference. The newcomers Haukar Hafnarfjörður and UMF Selfoss had to relegate to the 1st deild karla after only one year .
