Premier League 2008/09

The Scottish Premier League was played for the twelfth time in 2009/10 . It was also the 113th edition of the highest soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. In the 2009/10 season, 12 clubs competed against each other in a total of 38 match days. Each team played once at home and away against every other team in the first round. Then the league was divided into two halves, in which the teams played against each other again. In the event of a tie, the goal difference counted .

The Glasgow Rangers won the Scottish Championship for the 53rd time in the club's history. The Rangers qualified as champions for the 2010/11 Champions League season . Runner-up Celtic Glasgow also played in the qualifying round of the Champions League due to Scotland's improved position in the UEFA five-year standings . The cup winners Dundee United , and the fourth-placed Hibernian and the fifth-placed FC Motherwell qualified for the Europa League . The FC Falkirk got into the end of the season First Division from. With 23 goals, Kris Boyd of the Glasgow Rangers was top scorer.
