Neil Alexander (born March 10, 1978 in Edinburgh , Scotland ) is a former Scottish football goalkeeper.

Club career

Alexander started his career at FC Stenhousemuir. He then moved to Livingston FC in 1998, with whom he was promoted to the Scottish Premier League in 2001 .

In May 2001 Alexander went to Cardiff City for a transfer fee of £ 200,000 and stood there over 200 times in six years.

Since January 30, 2008, the 1.85 m tall Scot has played for the Glasgow Rangers. His transfer fee was £ 500,000.

On August 14, 2013, he signed a one-year contract with the English Premier League promoted Crystal Palace . For the first division, he remained without any league use in the 2013/14 season . In June 2014, he signed with Heart of Midlothian as a player-coach. After two years in Edinburgh, Alexander moved to FC Aberdeen .

National team

Alexander made his first international match against Switzerland in 2006. His other two games so far, he also played in 2006 in the Kirin Cup , which Scotland won.

successes

With the Glasgow Rangers, Alexander made it into the 2008 UEFA Cup final , which was lost 2-0 to Zenit St. Petersburg . In the final, Alexander played for the injured goalkeeper Allan McGregor .
