The Scottish Football League Division One was played for the 34th time in 1926/27 . It was also the 37th edition of the highest soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. It began on August 14, 1926 and ended on April 30, 1927. In the 1926/27 season, 20 clubs competed against each other in a total of 38 game days. Each team played once at home and away against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the goal quotient counted .
The championship won for the 15th time in their club history, the Glasgow Rangers . Morton and Dundee United relegated to Division Two at the end of the season . The top scorer was Jimmy McGrory from Celtic Glasgow with 49 goals .
