The Scottish Football League Division One was played for the 37th time in 1929/30 . It was also the 40th edition of the top soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. It began on August 10, 1929 and ended on April 30, 1930. In the 1929/30 season, 20 clubs competed against each other in a total of 38 game days. Each team played once at home and away against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the goal quotient counted .
The championship was won by the Glasgow Rangers for the 18th time in their club's history . Dundee United and FC St. Johnstone relegated to Division Two at the end of the season . The top scorer was Benny Yorston of Aberdeen FC with 38 goals .
