Scottish Football League 1892/93

The Scottish Football League Division One was played for the first time in 1893/94 . It was also the fourth edition of the highest soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. It began on August 12, 1893 and ended on May 2, 1894. In the 1893/94 season, 10 clubs competed against each other in a total of 18 match days. Each team played once at home and away against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the clubs (with the same number of points) were placed tied.

The championship won for the 2nd time in the club's history Celtic Glasgow . The FC Renton , which got no re-election from the other league members, was relegated to Division Two . The top scorer was Sandy McMahon from Celtic Glasgow with 16 goals .

    Election procedure

    The regulations of the Scottish Football League stipulated that the three worst-placed teams had to stand for re-election at the end of the season. Voting took place at the annual general meeting of the Scottish Football League, at which new admissions were also decided. This electoral system determined the promotion and relegation regulation between Division One and Division Two until 1922 .
