The Scottish Football League Division One was played for the 66th time in 1966/67 . It was also the 69th edition of the highest soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. It began on September 10, 1966 and ended on May 15, 1967. In the 1966/67 season, 18 clubs competed against each other in a total of 34 match days. Each team played once at home and away against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the goal quotient counted .
The championship won for the 22nd time in the club's history Celtic Glasgow . The Bhoys qualified as champions for the following European Cup of National Champions season 1967/68 . The runner-up, as well as the fifth and sixth place, the Glasgow Rangers , Hibernian Edinburgh and the FC Dundee qualified for the Exhibition Cities Cup . As a defeated cup finalist , FC Aberdeen qualified for the European Cup Winners' Cup . The FC St. Mirren and Ayr United got into the end of the season Division Two from. The top scorer was Stevie Chalmers from Celtic Glasgow with 21 goals .
