Ludwig von Oppen

Ludwig von Oppen (* December 16, 1704 ; † July 30, 1779 in Fredersdorf ) was a Prussian colonel and commander of the cuirassier regiment "Prince of Prussia" . He was the heir to Fredersdorf with Weitzgrund and Egelinde in the Zauch-Belzig district .

Life

His parents were the District Administrator Ludwig Friedrich von Oppen (1663-1716) and his wife Marie, née von Rochow (1670-1705).

Oppen served in the regiment from the start and was wounded in the Battle of Thrush . In 1756 he was appointed commander when the previous Georg Wilhelm von Driesen received his own regiment. With the death of the chief of Prince August Wilhelm in 1758, he gave up his command.

In 1744 he married Charlotte Amalie von Veltheim (April 5, 1722 - March 16, 1789) from the Ostrau family. She was the daughter of Josias von Veltheim († December 16, 1747) and Juliane Florentine von der Asseburg . Her son Heinrich Ferdinand (December 4, 1747 - September 23, 1827) married a von Charpentier and after her death Karoline Franziska Henriette von Huldenberg (December 25, 1770 - April 17, 1840).
