The Scottish Football League Division One was played for the 29th time in 1921/22 . It was also the 32nd edition of the highest soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. It began on August 15, 1921 and ended on April 29, 1922. In the 1921/22 season, 22 clubs competed against each other in a total of 42 match days. Each team played once at home and away against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the goal quotient counted for the first time since the league was founded .
The championship won for the 16th time in the club's history Celtic Glasgow . The FC Dumbarton , FC Queen's Park and FC Clydebank got into the end of the season Division Two from. These were the first teams to automatically relegate, replacing the old system of general meeting voting. The top scorer was Duncan Walker from FC St. Mirren with 45 goals .
