The Scottish Football League Division One was played for the 41st time in 1933/34 . It was also the 44th edition of the highest soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. It began on August 12, 1933 and ended on April 30, 1934. In the 1933/34 season, 20 clubs competed against each other in a total of 38 matchdays. Each team played once at home and away against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the goal quotient counted .
The championship was won by the Glasgow Rangers for the 21st time in their club history . Third Lanark and Cowdenbeath FC were relegated to Division Two at the end of the season . The top scorer was Jimmy Smith of the Glasgow Rangers with 41 goals .
