Premier Division 1983/84

The Scottish Football League Premier Division was played for the tenth time in 1984/85 . It was also the 88th edition of a top soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. In the 1984/85 season 10 clubs competed against each other in a total of 36 match days. Each team played twice at home and twice against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the goal difference counted .

The FC Aberdeen was the title from the previous year to successfully defend, and for the fourth time in club history after 1955 , 1980 and 1984 to win the Scottish Cup. Until the dissolution of the Premier Division in 1998, it was the last championship that neither Glasgow club could win. The Dons qualified as champions for the following European Cup season 1985/86 . As a cup winner , runner-up Celtic Glasgow qualified for the European Cup Winners' Cup . The teams Dundee United , Glasgow Rangers and FC St. Mirren , who are in third to fifth place , qualified for the UEFA Cup .

The FC Dumbarton and Greenock Morton got into the end of the season First Division from. With 22 goals, Frank McDougall of Aberdeen FC was the top scorer.
