The Scottish Football League Division One was played for the 43rd time in 1935/36 . It was also the 46th edition of the highest soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. It began on August 10, 1935 and ended on April 29, 1936. In the 1935/36 season, 20 clubs competed against each other in a total of 38 matchdays. Each team played once at home and away against every other team. The 2-point rule applied . In the event of a tie, the goal quotient counted .
The championship won for the 18th time in the club's history Celtic Glasgow . The Airdrieonians FC and Ayr United relegated to Division Two at the end of the season . The top scorer with 50 goals was Jimmy McGrory from Celtic Glasgow.
