The Scottish Football League Division One was played for the 54th time in 1953/54 . It was also the 57th edition of the highest soccer division within the Scottish Football League in which the Scottish champions were determined. The championship won for the 20th time in the club's history Celtic Glasgow . The Airdrieonians FC and Hamilton Academical relegated to Division Two at the end of the season . The top scorer was Jimmy Wardhaugh of Heart of Midlothian with 27 goals .
