The secondary school Kriaunos (lit. Kriaunų pagrindinė mokykla ) is a secondary school in Kriaunos , in the Rokiškis district in Lithuania .

history

In 1776 a school of the Catholic parish Kriaunos was mentioned in a document with monks. In 1777 there were eight students. In 1790 a new school was built in the parish of Kriaunos. In 1865 the state school was built. They only taught Russian . It was not until 1906 that Lithuanian teachers were allowed to be appointed at the request of the Lithuanian peasants. In 1907 the first Lithuanian-speaking teacher began working. He was Antanas Busilas. He wrote the first textbooks. The Kriaunos primary school existed until 1948. From 1948 there was the seven-year school. In 1952 the school was reorganized into a middle school with a high school diploma . In 1962 a new building was built. Today's school building was built in 1982. From 1988 to 1990 the school was named after Petras Griškevičius . In 1999 the middle school was reorganized into a secondary school. In November 2010 a new school statute was confirmed. The preschool groups for children between the ages of 4 and 6 have existed since 2011. In 2015, 34 employees worked at the school.
