Visuotinė lietuvių enciklopedija
Visuotinė lietuvių enciklopedija ( VLE ) is a 25-volume Lithuanian general encyclopedia that was published from 2001 to 2014 by the Mokslo ir enciklopedijų Leidykla (German: Science and Encyclopedia Publishing Institute ).
The encyclopedia is the first universal encyclopedia after the declaration of independence from the USSR and replaces the Soviet, 13-volume Lietuviškoji tarybinė enciklopedija published in 1976–1985 . As the VLE is a Lithuanian encyclopedia, the emphasis is on Lithuania , Lithuanians, and Lithuanian subjects (people, organizations, language, culture, people and customs). These thematic articles will comprise 20-25% of all articles; there will be 6,000 Lithuanian biographies alone.

The universal encyclopedia comprises 25 volumes of 800 pages each, a total of over 18,000 pages.

Authors, editors, management
More than 2,957 authors in eight specialist editors contribute to the creation of the VLE. The Lithuanian Academy of Sciences and a scientific council of 23 to 25 scientists, headed by Zenonas Rokus Rudzikas , watched over the entire work . The individual editorial offices and their approximate share in the encyclopedia are:
