The Lithuanian Academy of Sciences ( according to : Lietuvos mokslų akademija (LMA); en . : Lithuanian Academy of Sciences ) is a non-governmental academy of sciences in Lithuania .
The academy was founded on January 16, 1941 . Vincas Krėvė-Mickevičius was the founding president . With changes to the law in 1991, 1993 and 2003, the Academy was fixed as a non-governmental organization. Jūras Banys has been president since 2018 .
structure
The academy is divided into 5 classes:
- Agricultural and forest science class; Direction Albinas Kusta
- Biological, Medical, and Earth Science Classes; Direction Vytas Antanas Tamošiūnas
- Humanities and social science class; Direction Leonardas Sauka
- Math, physical and chemical class; Head of Valdemaras Razumas
- Technical and engineering class; Direction Vytautas Ostaševičius
There are several independent scientific institutes, laboratories and other scientific institutions. The academy is a member of the All European Academies .
