The Lithuanian University of Health Sciences ( Lithuanian Lietuvos sveikatos mokslų universitetas , LSMU ) is a university in the second largest Lithuanian city ​​of Kaunas . It emerged from the merger of two predecessor institutions in 2010.

history

The Lithuanian University of Health Sciences continues the tradition of the Medical Faculty of the University of Lithuania founded in 1922 . After this university was closed or smashed, the medical facility existed from 1950 to 1998 as an independent Medical Institute in Kaunas.

From 1989 the facility was called the Medical Academy, and in 1998 it was renamed the Medical University. In 2010, the Lithuanian Veterinary Academy and Medical University merged to form the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences.
