Medical Academy of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences
The Medical Academy of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences (formerly Kaunas Medical University , Lithuanian Kauno medicinos universitetas , abbreviated KMU ) is the former Medical University in Lithuania and Academy of the Lithuanian University of Health Sciences . It is based in Kaunas . The Academy operates the Kaunas University Clinics , which are the largest Lithuanian clinics .
history
Kaunas Medical University continued the tradition of the Medical Faculty of the University of Lithuania founded in 1922 . After this university was closed or smashed, the medical facility existed from 1950 to 1998 as an independent Medical Institute in Kaunas. From 1989 the facility was called the Medical Academy, and in 1998 it was renamed the Medical University. The Kaunas University Hospitals are an important part of the university .
