The OMAP ( OMAP ) is a proprietary manufactured processor architecture . OMAP is a registered trademark of the US technology manufacturer Texas Instruments . OMAP processors are designed for use in smartphones and other mobile devices and are based on the ARM architecture .

While OMAP1 and OMAP2 were mostly used in cell phones, since OMAP3 some affordable development boards allow the general use of these powerful ARM Cortex-A chips: BeagleBoard and PandaBoard .
