Election procedure
The regulations of the Scottish Football League stipulated that the three worst-placed teams had to stand for re-election at the end of the season. Voting took place at the annual general meeting of the Scottish Football League, at which new admissions were also decided. In addition, the league members decided with 12 against 4 votes to reduce the championship from 12 to 10 teams. Accordingly, the teams that remained on the bottom line had to try again to participate.
