The Underwood Park was a football stadium in Scotland Paisley , County Renfrewshire . It was the home of Abercorn FC between 1889 and 1899 when they played in the Scottish Football League .

history

Abercorn moved from Blackstoun Park to Underwood Park in 1889 . The new area had a wooden grandstand with a capacity for 750 spectators on the west side of the field. A pavilion from Blackstoun Park was rebuilt in the northwest corner of the site . In 1890 a roof was added to the wooden grandstand, and later a cycling and running track was added around the field.

Abercorn was a founding member of the Scottish Football League, and the first league game was played on September 13, 1890 at Underwood Park against Renton FC . However, when Renton was later excluded from the league, the result was annulled and Renton's results were deleted. On March 22, 1890, the place was used for an international match between Scotland and Wales , with Scotland won 5-0 with a crowd of 7,000. Abercorn's highest attendance in the league reached the club at Underwood Park at the beginning of the following season , when 6000 on September 12, 1891 saw a 2-5 defeat by Celtic Glasgow .

In 1899 Abercorn moved to Old Ralston Park and the local council bought the site. The last league game was played on April 8, 1899 at Underwood Park, in a 3-3 draw against FC Ayr in Division Two 1898/99 .
