The Scottish League Cup was played for the 7th time in 1952/53 . The Scottish Football League Cup, which was played among the participants of the Scottish Football League , began on August 9, 1952 and ended with the final on October 25, 1952 in Hampden Park in Glasgow . As the defending champion, FC Dundee started the competition that prevailed against the Glasgow Rangers in the previous year's final . In this year's final, FC Dundee met second division club FC Kilmarnock . The Dees reached the league cup final for the second time overall and as a result. The Killies moved into the final for the first time. Dundee won the final 2-0 with a brace from Bobby Flavell . In the Scottish Championship , Dundee was seventh. The Killies finished fourth in the 2nd division .
