The Scottish League Cup was played for the 22nd time in 1967/68 . The Scottish Football League Cup, which was played among the participants of the Scottish Football League , began on August 12, 1967 and ended with the final on October 28, 1967 in Hampden Park in Glasgow . As defending champion, Celtic Glasgow started the competition that had prevailed against the Glasgow Rangers at the Old Firm in the previous year's final . In this year's final, Celtic met against FC Dundee . For Celtic it was the fourth consecutive final since 1965 and the 6th overall since 1957 . The Dees from Dundee reached the final of the League Cup for the third time in the club's history after 1952 and 1953 . The two finals in the 1950s were won against FC Kilmarnock and Glasgow Rangers. The Bhoys won this year's final 5-3. It was the fifth league cup triumph for Celtic since 1957. In the 1967/68 season , Celtic won the championship for the 23rd time in the club's history . Cup winner was Dunfermline Athletic . Due to the victory in the championship, Celtic took part in the European Cup in the following season . The Dees remained without European Cup participation. Celtic reached the quarterfinals in which the club lost to eventual winners AC Milan .
