The Scottish League Cup was played for the 60th time in 2005/06 . The Scottish League Cup, which was officially played as the CIS Insurance League Cup , began on August 9, 2005 and ended with the final on March 19, 2006. The clubs of the Scottish Football League and Scottish Premier League took part in the competition. If a duel was not decided after 90 minutes plus extra time, there was a penalty shoot-out. Celtic Glasgow secured the title in the final against Dunfermline Athletic .
