The Scottish League Cup was played for the 58th time in 2003/04 . The Scottish League Cup, which was officially played as the CIS Insurance League Cup , began on September 2, 2003 and ended with the final on March 14, 2004. The clubs of the Scottish Football League and Scottish Premier League took part in the competition. If a duel was not decided after 90 minutes plus extra time, there was a penalty shoot-out. For the first time in the club's history, Livingston FC won the League Cup, in the final the club won against Hibernian Edinburgh .
