Marvin Anthony Andrews (born December 22, 1975 in San Juan ) is a Trinidadian football player. Andrews is a physically very present and headed defender and is currently active at Hamilton Academical in the Scottish Premier League .
Club career
Andrews began his professional career at San Juan Jabloteh and later at FC Carib in his home country.
In 1997 he left Trinidad for Scotland , in the Premier League for the Raith Rovers . He quickly established himself there and played some good seasons for the Rovers; In 1999/2000 he was voted the club's best player, but at the end of the season the club went bankrupt . Andrews moved to Livingston FC in the Scottish First Division and the club was promoted to the Premier League in Andrews' first season in 2000/01. Andrews also quickly became a leader at Livingston. In the 2003/04 season he was even voted the club's best player when he led the club to the first title in club history, the Scottish Cup.
For the 2004/05 season, the Glasgow Rangers brought him. As with his first two clubs in Scotland, he was quickly the head of the defense and, when he ran for the Rangers after a ligament injury in his knee against the advice of his doctor, one of the most popular players with the fans. They voted him the best Rangers player after winning the 2004/05 championship. For Rangers, he played four games in the UEFA Champions League in the 2005/06 season . In July 2006 he was released from the club. He then returned to the Raith Rovers. In summer 2009 he switched to Hamilton Academical . He has been playing in the Scottish second division for Montrose FC since January 2015 .
National team
Since his debut against Colombia on March 21, 1996, he has played for his country over 100 times, scoring ten goals. He played his 100th game on June 10, 2009 against Mexico . He was nominated for the finals in his home country for the 2006 World Cup in Germany .
