David McNamee (born April 20, 1988 in Irvine (Scotland) ) is a British triathlete and Ironman winner (2015). He is on the best list of British triathletes on the Ironman distance .

Career

In 2011 the Scotsman David McNamee was runner-up in the U23 triathlon short distance world championship.
In 2013 he was third in the duathlon at the national championships.

In 2014, he finished seventh at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, Scotland, behind winner Alistair Brownlee .

Iron mand distance since 2015

In March 2015, he started the Ironman distance in South Africa for the first time (3.86 km swimming, 180.2 km cycling and 42.195 km running) and finished in seventh place.

Four months later he was able to win the Ironman UK and thus qualify for a starting place at the Ironman Hawaii (Ironman World Championship), where he finished twelfth.

3rd place Ironman Hawaii 2017 and 2018

In October 2017, the then 29-year-old finished third at the Ironman Hawaii and was also the first athlete from the United Kingdom to achieve a medal with the fastest time of a British athlete. At his fourth start at the Ironman Hawai, David McNamee finished third in October 2018 after 8:01:09 h with a personal best, as in the previous year.

In May 2019, as in the previous year, he finished second in the Ironman 70.3 Barcelona .
