Kevin Thomson (born October 14, 1984 in Edinburgh , Scotland ) is a Scottish football player. He is related to former Rangers striker Steve McLean .

Athletic career

In his youth, Thomson played with Peebles Thristle and Hutchison Vale, a club from his hometown Edinburgh. His first professional club was Hibernian Edinburgh , where he signed a contract in 2003. During this time, Hibernian promoted many young players such as Steven Whittaker , Scott Brown and Derek Riordan . At the end of the 2003/04 season Thomson seriously injured his knee and could not play a football game for almost a year. Thomson made his comeback for the 2005/06 season. In 2007 he moved to the Glasgow Rangers for a transfer fee of three million euros. Thomson was the elf part of the 2007/08 final of the UEFA Cup were, but with 0: 2 against Zenit St. Petersburg lost.
