European Champion Clubs' Cup 1984/85

The 1985/86 European Champion Clubs' Cup was the 31st edition of the competition. 31 club teams took part, including 30 national champions from the previous season and the defending champions with Juventus Turin . Albania did not report any team. The clubs from England were excluded from participation after the Heysel disaster . The final took place on May 7, 1986 at the Estadio Ramón Sánchez Pizjuán in Spanish Sevilla instead.

Steaua Bucharest was the first Eastern European winner of this contest, including through superior performance of its goalkeeper Helmuth Duckadam in the finals of the penalties parried all four penalties of the opponent.

mode

The game was played in the cup mode with return legs (except for the final). In the case of a tie, the higher number of goals scored away counted first; if there was also a tie, the second leg was extended and, if necessary, a penalty shoot-out was played immediately afterwards.
