← UEFA Champions League 1994/95
The 1995/96 UEFA Champions League was the 4th season of the most important European competition for club teams in football under this name and the 41st overall. Once again, not all of the registered national champions were at the start because, due to the increased number of member associations since the beginning of the 1990s, UEFA had decided to allow the champions , who were lower in the UEFA five-year ranking , to start in the 1995/96 UEFA Cup . As in the previous year, only 24 teams took part in the competition, including the defending champion and current Dutch champions Ajax Amsterdam.
The final took place on May 22, 1996 in the Olympic Stadium in Rome .
mode
There were no changes to the game mode compared to the previous year. However, this was the first season in which three points were awarded for a win in the group stage .
qualification
The first leg took place on the 9th, the second leg on August 23, 1995.
1 Dynamo Kiev was disqualified for bribery and Aalborg BK took Kiev's place in the group stage.
